Working with you to create something unique is a privilege that I don't take lightly. Whether is an image of a place you love, an idea you've been dreaming of, or something special for a loved one, commissioning a work of art is a thoughtful process that creates a timeless treasure. I have years of experience creating commissioned artworks, so you can expect clear communication, upfront pricing, and a final piece that you will be delighted with. Please note, I do not paint portraits at this time.

My rate for a commissioned artwork is $3.50 per square inch for works 11x14in or smaller. Larger than that is $3 per square in. To calculate the price for a work you want to commission, multiply the length times the width, and multiply that by $3.50. For example, a 11x14in watercolor painting is $539. At this time, turnaround time is about 6 weeks. Commissions close for the year on Thanksgiving.

 

Ready to commission a piece of art? Here's how the process works:

First, we have a conversation to talk about expectations, vision, and exact parameters of the artwork. I will tell you my strengths and weaknesses and whether I believe I can create what you desire. There will be no obligation or pressure for you to hire me - only you can decide if I am the right artist and this is the right time for the work to be made. If you determine that we are ready to move forward, I will send you a contract to read and sign before work begins. (sample contract here)

After the contract is signed, you can expect an email from me within a week or so with a sketch of your idea. This is where we work together to make your vision a reality, so be honest with me about your wishes. I can easily adjust the sketch, now is the best time to make changes. If all looks good, you will send me the go-ahead, and I will begin your painting.

Painting time varies based on the size and scale of the project. If your commission is the only one I'm working on, it could be done 2-3 weeks after sketch approval. However, typical turnaround time is about 6-weeks. We will clearly discuss timeframe parameters for your specific project so you can know what to expect. Christmas is the busiest season for my work, and I don't take any commissions in December, so if you want something done by Christmas, contact me in September!
